Soul Surfer: a Auto Biography of Bethany Hamilton

Soul SurferA couple of months ago, I read Soul Surfer, an autobiography of Bethany Hamilton, a pro surfer from Maui, Hawaii who lost her arm to a tiger shark. This is a true story.

In the beginning, thirteen year old Bethany Hamilton had a dream. Her dream was to be a professional surfer. Her dream began to fade when she was waiting for a wave, and a vicious tiger shark bit a chunk out of her arm and her surfboard. She didn’t feel anything since she was in total shock. “It all happened so fast!”, says Bethany. She didn’t see or feel anything just the urge to get to the beach. The shore was a quarter-mile away.

Bethany’s whole arm was lost to the tiger shark. When her parents found out, God flooded their mind with Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ”

“I look like Frankenstein!”, Bethany Hamilton thought when she looked into the mirror for the first time since the attack. But, in a couple of weeks, she was back in the water! Now, she uses her tragedy as a testimony of faith. Soul Surfer inspired me in so many different ways. Bethany has the will to continue her passion and a heart of compassion. Bethany Hamilton is a true woman of faith!

There is no official book level for Soul Surfer. Nevertheless, this book will inspire almost everyone with her passion for surfing. I would rate Soul Surfer 5.0 stars!!!!!!
